Style Inspo #2

Today I am back with another style inspiration. The first time around, I was inspired by the blogger, Hi Sugarplum. You can read that post HERE.

Today’s style inspo comes from YouTuber/blogger, Ashley Brooke.

The above look came from one of her recent videos.

What really caught my eye with this look, was the cute handbag.

Imagine my surprise when I found out it’s from Forever 21! I was even more surprised when I went there and discovered that the majority of the people working there were male…and in their 40’s!

So here is MY spin on her look.

Along with the cute handbag (that set me back twenty bucks!) my look features a recent score from Savers winter clearance event.

This Liz Claiborne sweater ($4.49).

Did you notice that the cable on the front and back are totally different? I did and that is what I like about it.

I thought I did a pretty good job with my recreation, don’t you?

Winter Out

Since it’s the last day of Winter, I thought I better share this fur vest I scored ages ago. In fact, my sister was the first one to wear this when she came out for a visit…over a year ago!

The brand is Style&Co from Macy’s. What’s nice about it is I can wear it open or…

It’s the perfect cute/comfortable outfit to wear out with friends…

and that’s exactly what I did.

Vince Camuto Times Two

Back in October, I featured this Two by Vince Camuto blouse ($3.74) in a post about my Sixteenth Wedding Anniversary.

2017-10-25 12.11.42

You can read all about it HERE.

Well, that shirt was Dry Clean Only, but your girl decided to throw it in the washer…

and it shrunk.

So into the bag it went for ThredUp.

But then, I scored this Two by Vince Camuto fuzzy sweater at Savers. ($4.24)

2018-02-01 13.12.26

and I didn’t have anything in my closet that really went with it…

except that shrunken blouse!

Good thing I procrastinated in sending that bag off to ThredUp! I’ve ended up taking quite a few items back out!

Fashion Review: EVA TRENDS Look#1

*I was sent three items of clothing from EVA TRENDS to review. All opinions are 100% my own.*

Today I am sharing one of those items.

2018-02-08 20.05.21-1

I love fashion…

more specifically fashion that is unique, one of a kind and made in limited quantities.

The clothing at EVA TRENDS fits that bill.

Their clothing is ALSO a one size fits most! And to prove that point I have asked my friend Dee (size 3X, 5’8″ age 76)  to model the same item of clothing along with me (size M, 5’3″ age 56).

The first item I chose from their site was this Autumn Leaves Embroidered Shirt Dress.

This particular item fits sizes M/L/XL/2XL

I styled it two ways and my friend Dee styled it one.

Up first, I styled it as a dress.

It’s VERY roomy, but I love it!

The quality is amazing. Check out the embroidery.

The second way I styled it was as a duster/jacket.

2018-02-26 12.33.48

I LOVE it styled this way. Did you notice it has a hood AND pockets?!

Style note * If you have an item of clothing that is ‘roomy’ wear it with a cross body bag. It helps keep that extra volume in check.

Now, let’s see how my friend Dee styled it!

Doesn’t she look FABULOUS?!!!

Here is a side by side look of the two of us.

I couldn’t be more pleased with the level of quality AND customer service of this UK based company. (Keep in mind that the clothing itself comes from China). I ordered my items on January 29th and they were delivered on February 8th.

The folks at EVA TRENDS  have kindly offered my readers a 15% discount off their order. Just use code DFA15 at checkout!

I’ll be sharing my other two items in the coming weeks!

In the meantime check EVA TRENDS out on Instagram

Boss Lady

Recently, my husband threw his hat in the ring to run for election to become a Board member here in Sun City.

During a ‘Meet the Candidates Night’, I wore this White House Black Market suit that I picked up at my fave thrift store in ABQ NM, the Family Thrift Center.

Now, in case you don’t know, clothing is pretty pricey at WHBM. I know because I used to work there.

Suit jackets like this one are $150.00.

And the pants are around $100.

You can check it out for yourself HERE.

What did I pay total???

2018-01-10 18.09.18

This Boss Lady happily paid the full thrift price of $12.99! Of course, I would have preferred to have gotten it on sale.

The five new Board members were announced on Feb 28th.

Unfortunately, Mitch was not one of them BUT at least he did not come in last!

I always look on the bright side.

JNY Signature Sweater

Happy Hump Day!

Thought I would share a look I wore to a party here in Sun City. It was a Valentine’s theme.

Hey, I wore a red lip!

2018-02-17 17.28.05

This $3.13 Jones New York Signature sweater has something special about it…

besides the price.

Notice the top of the sweater?

It’s actually removable!

It’s attached with a button on the back of the sweater.

I like the tunic style length of the sweater, which makes it perfect to wear with leggings and boots.

Did you notice the pin?

2018-02-17 17.28.26

It’s an estate sale score for just $2.50.

Along with the rest of these items.

2017-08-19 12.24.30
Pins $2.50 each…Chocker $4.50…Bracelet $3.50

What was the pin selling for on line?

I scored again!!

Two for One

No, I’m not talking about a two-for-one at the buffet.

I’m talking about a two-for-one item of clothing!!

Check out this Chanel type blazer/jacket that I scored for $10 at a local Dress for Success sale almost two years ago and finally got around to wearing.

It’s reversible!!
